As the beastly dog at my doorstep
Claws away, stripping off layers and layers
Of thin brown paint, tearing at the wood itself
While the cat slips through the cracks
Leaving no traces as it takes its own path
The beastly dog chases its tail
And slobbers over meat even today
As I am a butterfly
Gliding hither and thither
The world below my wings
Is but a drop of morning dew
On the petals of a wilting mum
Dripping a path down the green
And the rain spills dew even today
As the pen traces its blood over the paper
Writing countless words that mean nothing to me
But mean everything to someone far away
Words that are distant, fading into the background
A glimmering soul losing the light of hope
At this moment I am no longer a human
And the glimmering soul shines even today
While the demon below claws away
And the angel over my head glides peacefully
And the pen writes words of a story inbetween
I stand uncaring even today
written for an old friend.
